Can’t you see?
I am a person
Just like you?
I have to breathe
The same air
You do.
I have to eat
And socialize
With people,
Only the people
I trust.
Even though I look
Different I am the same
As you in every aspect
Of the human body.
Just because I am
Graced does not mean
You should always
Fear me.
Don’t always believe what
You hear, for some
Of it is not true.
I am one in the same
As you.
I am a person
Just like you?
I have to breathe
The same air
You do.
I have to eat
And socialize
With people,
Only the people
I trust.
Even though I look
Different I am the same
As you in every aspect
Of the human body.
Just because I am
Graced does not mean
You should always
Fear me.
Don’t always believe what
You hear, for some
Of it is not true.
I am one in the same
As you.

I love that this poem takes an empathetic approach to Katsa. I felt both jealous of her amazing Grace but also sad for the social isolation that came with it. I love the relationship in the book. :)
